LIFECYCLE EVENTS

We’re here for you.

The occasions that we refer to as “Lifecycle Events” mark those important milestones or transitions in our lives when we move into a new phase of living, Jewish and otherwise. Whether you are celebrating life’s most joyous occasions, or needing comfort in life’s most difficult times, you can rely on Beth El to help fulfill ritual and spiritual needs.

Baby Naming and Bris Ceremonies

Mazel tov! Baby girls can be named and blessed from the bimah during Shabbat services. Bris ceremonies are also welcome in our facility, and we can recommend (for here or elsewhere) a number of Mohels. Also ask about discounted first-year family membership!

B’nai Mitzvah

Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations at Beth El include the entire family in an inspiring service, led by the Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We take pride in our children reaching their full potential as proficient service leaders, as well as capable Torah and Haftarah readers, so students are required to attend our religious school in order to schedule a ceremony. Please see this page for details.

Aufrufs and Weddings

We love working with engaged couples to create your special day! We also suggest (but do not require) an aufruf, the traditional blessing on the Shabbat preceding the wedding, to help make the celebration even more meaningful. (Ask about discounted first-year family membership!)

Funerals and Bereavement

In the event of a loss, please notify the synagogue office immediately so that we can provide support and assistance during this difficult time. Congregation Beth El Fairfield owns and maintains a Jewish cemetery on Reid Street in Fairfield, CT. Plots are moderately priced, and include perpetual care of the plot and cemetery grounds. We are proud to be one of the few Jewish cemeteries in the state of Connecticut to have an area dedicated specifically to interfaith couples. It follows the halakhic rules for interfaith burials established by the Conservative movement.

All of the above are available to both synagogue members and non-members. And everyone regardless of status, faith, or identity is welcome. For further information, please contact the synagogue office at 203-374-5544.
